You See Them in the Gym—Now Get to Know Them!

Our monthly Vitality Athletics Member Spotlight introduces you to a fellow athlete and the story behind their fitness journey. At Vitality Athletics, we believe building a strong fitness community is just as important as building strength in the gym.

This month, we’re featuring one of our OG members that calls Vitality Athletics her home away from home.

Vitality Athletics Member Spotlight: JORDAN MURIITHI

How long have you been coming to Vitality, and what got you started?

Before Vitality was Vitality, I started training with kickboxing classes and crossfit; when returning stateside from Kenya, we would work out with Tyler and others and now with the Vitality team as we all know and love it!

What's your favorite exercise movement right now? Why?

I have always enjoyed back squats; but since dabbling in some powerlifting events, I have come to love the bench press: by learning how to engage my whole body in the lift, I've been able to push PR's and challenge myself. In general, on a normal day, I actually enjoy the short cardio circuits where I can row and get in some dynamic movements like DB cleans. It makes me feel strong, while highlighting areas I need to work on.

What’s one win (big or small) you’re proud of recently?

I'm happy to be able to continue training 2-3x each week, through another pregnancy. Vitality has been a great resource and staying active and continuing to lift heavy (and sometimes very light!) has been so helpful in delivery and recovery. I am also proud of some of the gains I've made related to my bench press over the past year.

Favorite song, artist, or playlist to get you pumped up for a workout?

I think I just like background music in general without having a favorite. I do find throwbacks to my high school days kind of fun and songs with lyrics related to our session (Squat day: "how low can you go?) Those always make me smile. (Songs like "Thunder" remind me of burpees) I am not a fan of the head banging type things; I find that distracting 🙃)

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Where to begin! Life has been a fun and interesting journey! Some surprising/fun facts about me would be that I lived in Kenya for about 9 years and met my husband there. We are expanding The Muriithi crew in September with baby #4. And one of my favorite sports to play, coach, watch and be around is Rugby!

What would you say to someone thinking about joining Vitality Athletics?

100% do it! Whether you have a sports or athletic background, need to make some lifestyle changes, have big fitness goals, are looking for a community of amazing and authentic people, or just need a mental health boost, joining and actually putting in the work meets all of those things and more. I can't say I am always excited to roll out of bed at 5am, but I am never disappointed when I show up. Vitality is way more than a gym or a work out. I challenge you to come and see for yourself!

At Vitality Athletics, we’re proud to help people across Ephrata, Lancaster County, and surrounding communities build strength, improve health, and gain confidence through expert coaching, strength training, and supportive group fitness classes.

Looking for a welcoming gym community in Lancaster County? We’d love to help you get started.
